Swizzels sweet factory has installed a giant ball pool at its headquarters to help employees relieve stress.

In order to mark National Stress Awareness Month, hard-working employees at a sweet factory have a new and innovative way to combat stress. Managers at Swizzels wanted to help staff unwind and “reclaim their childhood” so positioned a ball pit with 25,000 balls in the staff canteen.

Research has found that activity helps to reduce stress and anxiety. It is also believed to increase creativity.

According the Metro, Jeremy Dee, managing director at Swizzels said: 'As our employees work very hard we wanted to do something a little bit different to help everyone have a bit of fun during the working day. I’m a firm believer that there should be a good balance between working hard and taking time out to have some fun and it’s an ethos we try to encourage.”

Wanting to allow staff to reminisce, Dee added: “People have said it’s taken them back to their childhood and that they go back into the factory much more energised for the remainder of their shift. We know how important it is for people to take time out and unwind in today’s hectic society. We wanted to create some childlike fun for our employees.”

Swizzels is one of the largest family-owned independent confectionery business is based in New Mills, Derbyshire. It is one of the few to still manufacture sweets in the UK.
