70-strong division sees good news delivered

Royal Mail’s Address Management Unit (AMU) has become the first department in the privatised mail operator to achieve Investors in People Gold standard.

The Sunderland and Portsmouth-based offices that comprise the unit began the accreditation process three years ago, and gained the Standard Award in 2013 and the Silver Award in 2014.

The Gold standard specifically recognises the operator’s commitment to learning, leadership and development.

Steve Rooney, head of Royal Mail’s AMU, said: “We began working with Investors in People to solidify our working practices and improve engagement and cross communication. The Gold Accreditation is testament to the dedication and hard work that the teams have put in.”

Simon Allsop, Investors in People Central England, said: “Processes are firmly embedded, management is effective, leadership is inspirational and managers are trusted. At Royal Mail people increasingly own their areas of responsibility and clearly take pride in their work.”
